Climate and Clothing

An average of 1,700 hours of sunshine annually, with precipitation occurring throughout the seasons, makes Stuttgart a good place to visit all through the year. September marks the beginning of the autumn months with an average temperature of 18.1°C (64.6°F). Temperatures can reach above 30°C (86°F) and sink as low as 3°C (37°F) during the night. The average amount of precipitation in September is 83 mm with an average number of rain days of 12.8.

Credit Cards, Banking, ATM

Cash and travelers checks can be exchanged in banks, at airports and railway stations as well as in some hotels.
The most popular credit cards in Germany are VISA, MasterCard and Eurocard.
Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Automatic teller machines issuing euro banknotes (EUR) are available 24/7 and accept the main cards and world networks such as VISA, Eurocard/MasterCard, EC, Postcard, Maestro, Cirrus, Electron, Plus, Eufiserv, Cash.


As in most of Europe, the voltage in Germany is 230 V; frequency is 50 Hz.


Like most states in Europe, Summer (Daylight-Saving) Time is observed in Germany Time, where the time is shifted forward by 1 hour; 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2).
